2 Dwellings Off in South Coatesville Borough Goes 2 Alarms

On Sunday Evening February 23rd at 1946 the Modena Fire Company along with multiple other mutual aid was dispatched to a reported dwelling at 791 South First Ave in South Coatesville Borough.

Battalion 37 (Corle) made the response and was advised by County radio police were on scene reporting house fully involved, Battalion 37 requested a working fire dispatch. Battalion 37 arrived at 1948 reporting two dwelling well involved and requested a second alarm, and established First Ave Command.

Residents reported to command that residents were still inside, command then upgraded the assignment to entrapment.

Crews arrived and originally went offensive with multiple hand lines and conducting searches of both structures, however with crews reporting heavy fire loads in both structures crews were evacuated from both structures at 1957 and a transition to a defensive attack with master streams was done.

Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down from the exterior crews did reenter one of the structures to further extinguish the fire, however after a structural collapse of the originally dispatched structure crews continued with master stream operations on that one.

The fire was placed under control at 2141 with all units working, all crews continued to work the incident until 0057 hrs when the assignment was scaled down to Modena units and Fire Marshals.

Modena personnel remained on scene until 0840 Monday morning hitting hot spots and assisting fire marshals.
