By Deputy Chief Frank Dowlin
April 12, 2010

On Monday Evening April 12 2010 Deputy Chief Dowlin received photos of the now Traffic 46 of Cumberland County. Since March the West Pennsboro Fire Company has been working on getting the unit in service and re-lettered, they where nice enough to send us some pictures of the finished project.

Traffic 46 was placed in service this past weekend

On Saturday March 6 2010, President Charles Wallace, Deputy Chief Frank Dowlin, and Fire Police Lieutenant Ronnie Himes made the 100 mile trip to West Pennsboro in Cumberland County.

The West Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Company is the new home for the recently replace 1996 traffic unit. The 1996 GMC Traffic unit was originally purchased as a Ambulance in 1996 and served in that capacity till 2003 when it was converted into a traffic unit which it served the company well until February of this year.

West Pennsboro contacted the company shortly after seeing the article in the PA Fireman Magazine. West Peensboro made two trips down to Modena to inspect the unit after receiving and excepting their bid the company felt it would only be right to personally deliver the unit to West Pennsboro.

Once the crew arrived in West Pennsboro some 2 hours after leaving Modena they were greeted by a small group of anxiously awaiting fire police. The West Pennsboro crew took some time going over their new unit, they also took time to check out our new traffic which made the trip as well. West Pennsboro officers took time to show us around their station and their equipment. After the little tour the Modena guys received a small gift in the form of hats from West Pennsboro before heading back outside to exchange checks and titles.

The Modena Fire Company would like to thank the West Pennsboro Fire Company for their hospitality during our visit and wish they the best of luck with their new traffic unit.
