Santa Makes Annual Trip Around District on Christmas Eve

By Deputy Chief Frank Dowlin
December 24, 2011

On Christmas Eve Saturday December 24th 2011 Santa made is annual visit to the Modena Fire Company to make his rounds in their first due response area.

Residents of Modena, South Coatesville, East Fallowfield, and parts of Newlin, West Marlbough have been seeing Santa ride a Modena fire truck past their homes for the past 30 plus years on Christmas Eve. Some residents even told us that this company tradition has become a tradition for their families, some say it don't fell like Christmas until they see Santa on that truck, and a few even said there kids won't go to sleep until Santa rides by and say to go to bed.

For company members this has become a yearly tradition that was started before most of the active crew can even remember but is one tradition that will never change. The evening starts around 3pm and for four hours crews travel around the district handing candy and stuffed animals out to the excited children in the area.

This year crews returned to a nice warm meal before returning home to their own families. Keeping this tradition alive again shows the unselfishness of the companies volunteers putting the residents before their own families on Christmas Eve.

We would like to thank the residents for your kindness and gifts throughout the night and hope we made your Christmas a special one.

This year we were overwhelmed by the amount of children throughout the district and our 800 bags of candy went quick, we would like to apologize the any resident that didn't receive a gift from use and we promise to make it up to you next year.

If any resident had taken pictures and would like to add them to this news article please e-mail them to chief37fd@aol.com and we will see that they are added.

From all the members at Modena we wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday.
