Crews End The Year With a Kitchen Fire

On Saturday Morning New years Eve the Modena Fire Company along with the Thorndale Fire Company were dispatched around 11am to an appliance fire reported as a stove at 1408 Cardinal Drive in East Fallowfield Township.

Deputy Chief Dowlin responded and Chester County Fire Radio notified him of a elderly woman bedridden in the rear bed room. Deputy Chief Dowlin and EMS Deputy Chief Collin arrived on scene within minutes of the dispatch, they found a smoke condition inside once making their way to the kitchen found flame blowing out of the stove. The chief's attempted to extinguish the fire using fire extinguisher from the East Fallowfield Police car but the fire progressed quickly and were no match for the small extinguisher, both Chief's turned their attention get the elderly woman out of the home witch they did very quickly.

Engine 37-2 was first to arrive followed by Engine 38 crews deployed a hand line into the residents knowing the fire down. Ground ladders were thrown to the roof, and crew made their way to the attic to check for extension. Positive pressure fan was placed in service to clear the smoke.

Fire Marshals from East Fallowfield and Chester County's Fire Marshal's Office were on scene and investigated to incident. Red Cross was notified for the residents as the home was no unlivable. Belfor was called to the scene to board up broken out windows.

All units clear the scene shortly after 12pm
