Accident with Entrapment on Strasburg Road in East Fallowfield

On Monday night October 30, 2017 the Modena Fire Company was dispatched at 2333 to a reported auto accident in front of 2135 Strasburg Road in East Fallowfield Township.

Engine 37-1 and Ambulance 37-1 made the response, Assistant 37 (Bryant) arrived on scene at 2339 reporting one vehicle down an embankment. Chief 37 arrived and established Strasburg Command. After an assessment found one patient still inside the vehicle unresponsive.

Strasburg command then upgraded the call to entrapment adding Medic 93 and Rescue 44.

Engine 37-1 crew went in service cutting driver side doors and roof from the vehicle, extrication was complete at 0006, Rescue 44 then arrived and its crew assisted Modena crews carry patient up and out of the mud.

The vehicle involved traveled off the road and went air born 15 yards down an embankment coming to rest in a creek bed, crews were working in thick mud and water during the rescue.

Patient was transported to local trauma center, Rescue 44 was released shortly after.

Modena crews spent the next hour cleaning mud from their rescue equipment, units went back in service at 0112.
