Neighbor Puts Out Kitchen Fire Saving House in South Coatesville

On Thursday July 19, 2018 the Modena Fire Company was dispatched to Wood Street in South Coatesville Borough for a reported dwelling fire. Also on the assignment was Engine and Ladder from Coatesville, Pumper/Tanker from Westwood, Engine from Coatesville VA, and RIT from East Brandywine.

Chief 37 made the response and was advised by dispatch the resident stated kitchen was on fire and they were evacuating. The chief arrived a minute later report 2 story half a double with smoke showing and established Wood Street Command.

The chief was met at his command vehicle by the neighbor who reported he put fire out with extinguisher, the chief investigated and confirmed fire knocked advised in coming unit to open wall and check for extension.

Units arrived and checked for extension and ventilated house the incident was scaled down to Coatesville and Modena units.

All units cleared a short time later.
