Crews Assist on Working House Fire in the Pomeroy Section of East Fallowfield

On Saturday January 30 2010 around 1111 hours the Modena Fire Company was dispatched along with Westwood, Parkesburg and Coatesville for the ladder to assist the Pomeroy Fire Company on a reported house fire at 37 Lyons Lane in the Pomeroy Section of East Fallowfield Township. As units made the response they were updated by Chester County fire radio that they were receiving multiple calls from nearby residents reporting heavy fire from the roof area, East Fallowfield Police arrived on scene reporting one house fully involved.
Engine 29-5 was first on scene and laid a 5 inch supply line down the driveway of the residents. Engine 44-5 was advised to pick up the line and supply it, Ladder 43 cover for Tower 28 was advised to get as close as possible and go in service with the ladder pipe. Captain 29 assumed Lyon Lane Command and immediately asked for his first alarm tankers.
Engine 37-2 with a crew of seven and all other remaining units were told to stage out on the hard road and send their manpower to the scene. Due to the temperatures being in the 20's with wind chills in the teens and snow starting to fall additional engine were called for throughout the fire as well as multiple ambulance so firefighter could rotate out and take 5 minutes and get warmed up.
ladder 43 was covering Tower 28 as Parkesburg and two Modena officers Lieutenants Pearce and Corle were at the West Chester Fire Training School attending a Truck Company class being hosted by Parkesburg. Tower 28 and all class member remained at the training session during the incident.
Five Modena, three Pomeroy, and one Coatesville Officers were attending a class in West Chester being held by the Chester County Fire Marshalls Unit at the time of the alarm, all nine officers left immediately after the working fire was confirmed on their way back to the incident a large header of smoke could be seen from as far as 15 miles out.
Crews worked into the afternoon extinguishing and overhauling the remains of the property, Chief 29 released all units and terminated command at 1439 hours.
