Round Two's Coming Remember Your Fire Hydrants

By Deputy Chief Frank Dowlin
February 8, 2010

As round two quickly approaches the area forecasters are calling of an additional 12 to 18 inches of snow on top of the 20+ inches of the snow that has hit the area the past 48hrs, the Modena Fire Company is asking everyone to please remember your local fire hydrant. Fire hydrants are essential to supplying water to fire apparatus when a fire occurs. Our fire hydrants are buried from the snowfall, plowing that has taken place, and from residents shoveling sidewalks and driveways.

Please consider digging out a fire hydrant if it is buried as well as clearing a 3 foot area around it, should your fire company need the fire hydrant it being dug out can save critical time when it matters most.

Be safe and stay worm
