On Thursday 8/6/20 Engine 37-1 and Ambulance 37 were dispatched to Longview Rd in East Fallowfield for the auto accident. Initial reports were of a car into the trees with unknown injuries. Shortly after dispatch the assignment was upgraded to with entrapment by the Chester County 911 Center.

FM47 arrived and confirmed one vehicle off the road down an embankment with one trapped inside. On the upgrade were Rescue 44 from Westwood and Medic 93.

Engine 37-1 and Ambulance 37 arrived and Chief 37 took command. Crews had to carefully make their way down the embankment about 5 or 6 feet to reach the drivers side door. Crews confirmed they had one subject trapped and began to work out a plan for extrication. Rescue 44 arrived and used their winch to secure the vehicle in case it started to move. The vehicle was being held up on the embankment by only a small tree.

Members battled very soft ground plus the steep incline and were able to remove the driver side door using the rescue tools. Once the door was off crews placed the injured subject on a backboard and used a rope to help pull him up. Ambulance 37 and Medic 93 transported one to a local trauma center.

Crews remained on scene to clean up and wait for Flings Towing to remove the vehicle.

Thank you to Westwood Fire & EMS for the assist.
