The Modena Fire Company was dispatched for 2 engines on the second alarm assignment tassisting Avondale on multiple dwelling.
Avondale was initially dispatched at 1723 for the report of a house on fire. Initial reports of fire on the porch. PD on scene reporting well off. Chief 23 has smoke visible from a distance. On scene with 3 story multiple occupancy with heavy fire showing from the "C" side of the dwelling. Working Fire Dispatch requested.
At 5:38pm - Per command possible entrapment in the exposure building. 2nd Alarm requested (Modena Dispatched)
Engine 37-1, Engine 37-2, and Utility 37 all made the response, once on scene reported to the manpower pull for instructions.
At 5:40pm - Crews reporting 3 of the townhomes involved now on both floors possibly running the block. Multiple lines in service.
Unfortunately, these type fires are common in what we call NEW construction, fire spreads easily for a multitude of reasons manly the materials used these days. This is also the type of construction that is getting firefighter hurt and worse yet killed.
As unfortunate as it is that the homeowners lost everything at the end of the day everyone got out safely and no major injuries were reported.
Modena units cleared the scene at 2017, before leaving the area a vehicle fire was dispatched nearby Engine 37-2 took that in before heading back home around 2050 hours. |
