| On Saturday night April 19, 2008 the Modena Fire Company was dispatched around 2245 hours to Branford Village Development in East Fallowfield Township for a rather unusual fire type "A FLOWER POT". Chief Dowlin responded and was notified that the resident had a flower pot that was on fire they believed it was out but wanted the fire company to check it. The Chief held the response to the brush truck which he picked up himself coming pass the station. On the arrival of personnel at the resident's home they were taken to the rear of the residents and were caught by surprise. A flower pot was attached to the house under a windowsill the resident had put new mulch into the pot earlier in the day which caught fire and had caught the siding of the house and chard the windowsill. Thankfully the resident was awake at the time of the fire and was able to open the window and extinguish the fire using there rinse hose from the kitchen sink. With out a doubt this quick reaction of the resident saved there home if the resident would have went to bed or not caught the fire so early the damage could have been much worse and possibly may have lost there home. Residents are urged to use caution using fresh top soil or fertilizer during hot days, these products are know the spontaneously combust and cause fires in flower beds and in this case burn your house. Brush 37 returned to station at 2308 hours |
