On Monday November 17, 2008 crews from Modena traveled to the Westwood Fire Company at 7pm to attend a presentation from PECO on the Newlinville substation on Route 82 in East Fallowfield Township.

The evening started with everyone meeting at Westwood for a power point presentation, everyone in attendance was asked to stand up and give their name and years in the service giving the instructor an idea of the range of people he was presenting. The presentation showed the crews different hazards of the Newlinville substation and went into detail of the policies of PECO during a fire emergency and how they should work together under one command during those emergencies for the safety of all involved.

The presentation showed a few different incidents that PECO had seen in the past, some of these incidents had a short video with them that where real eye openers for all the crews and defiantly made them get the real felling of the hazards at these substations.

After the presentation crews boarded the apparatus and made the short drive to the Newlinville substation at the station they put on all their personal protective equipment and joined the PECO representative in a tour of the sub station identifying all the hazards they where show in the presentation earlier.

All units cleared the substation around 9pm

The members of the Modena Fire Company would like to thank PECO for a very informational program and also Westwood for inviting us to join them.
