| On Saturday Evening, April 14th, 2012 the Modena Fire Company members took the evening off from running emergency call to celebrate the past two years at their Awards Banquet. This year's banquet, which highlights our 2010-2011 operating year, was held at the Wagontown Fire Company's Banquet facility. All of our active crew members, social members, neighboring Fire Chiefs, and several special guests were invited to attend in appreciation for all that our members and friends do to keep the fire company operating throughout the year. The banquet began at 5PM with an happy hour, with dinner and our welcoming introductions starting at 6PM. President Wallace welcomed all in attendance and our special guests were introduced. Paula Davis led everyone in a prayer and blessing of the food. Everyone was then dismissed by table for a buffet style dinner. As dinner was concluding, it was time to begin the banquet presentations and awards ceremonies. First, Current Chief Frank Dowlin read a brief history of the company dating back to 1922 along with honoring those current members for the past two years 2012 marks the companies 90th Anniversary so we took a few minutes to reflect on the past. Past Fire Chief Doug Perine was then introduced to present the 2010-2011 Firefighter awards. 2010 Firefighter of the Year was awarded to Lieutenant Marcus Pearce and Firefighter/EMT Tina Carosella, 2011 Firefighter of the Year was awarded to Leon Pluck. 2010 Jr. Firefighter of the Year was Diana Brown and 2011 Jr. Firefighter was Mary Ann Corle. Chief Perine then handed out the 100 Club recipients that made 100 calls each year they were Chris Corle Jr., John Lavender, Frank Dowlin, Ronnie Himes, Dave Wallace, Tina Carosella, and Doug Perine. Fire Police Captain John Gatchel then presented some certificates to his Fire Police thanking them for their help over the past two years. The next presentation was EMS Chief Douglas Dowlin presenting the 2010-2011 EMS Awards. 2010 EMS person of the year was Liz Corle, 2011 EMS person of the year was Tina Carosella. EMS Chief Dowlin then handed out the 100 Club recipients that made 100 calls each year they were Dave Wallace, Tina Carosella, Liz Corle, Chris Corle Sr., Leon Pluck, and Charles Wallace. Following the awards Dowlin thanked everyone for their dedication for the past ten years as he was stepping down as EMS Chief, he also wished current EMS Chief James Plank the best. Current Chief Frank Dowlin and EMS Chief James Plank then presented appreciation plaques to Past Chief Doug Perine and EMS Chief Douglas Dowlin thanking them for the dedication and leadership as officers. Following the awards a short 9 minute video was shown highlighting the past years, 2010-2011, and remembering those we lost in the past two years. The presentations were wrapped up and Chief Dowlin with the assistance of Leo from Medic 93 handed out some door prizes. Then it was time to get everyone up and moving a game of hot potato was played and the winner was awarded the center piece which this year was a nice vase with the company patch etched in with colored stones and a Bata fish. Dancing and more socializing then commenced with music from the DJ Earl Taylor throughout the evening. Every attendee was presented with a banquet gifts; a Modena Fire Company 90th Anniversary glass. We would like to recognize and thank our friends at the Radnor Fire Company, and Lima EMS in Delaware County for standing by at our station throughout the evening to provide protection to our community while we celebrated at the banquet. Fortunately they did not have an emergency calls. |
