Joint Training with Honeybrook on School Bus Extrication

On Monday Evening May 20, 2013 the Modena Fire Company joined up with the Honeybrook Fire Company for training on school bus extrication at the Krapf Bus Company in Glenmoore.

The evening started with Chief Dowlin giving a brief overview on bus construction, Chief Dowlin (Krapf Employee)has been working on school buses for over 15 years and has a very good knowledge of how their built. Follow the briefing the bus was rolled onto it side using Rescue 33, and the large group of personnel were line off and split into 3 groups.

Throughout the evening crews worked together to access the interior of the bus via going through the floor and then proceeded to perform a roof removal. The two companies officers with years of experience on hand giving everyone the opportunity to learn and execute several different strategies and techniques.

The officers and Members of both company's would like to thank the Krapf Bus Company for donating the bus an allowing us this special opportunity to sharpen our skill and gain knowledge of school bus, we hope we will not need to use these skill in the near future, but if we do we'll be ready.
