Close Call in a Apartment Building in Modena Borough

On Sunday night around 2330 hours Fire Police Captain Himes was awoken in his apartment by a neighbor stating their apartment was on fire, Himes quickly grabbed his portable and called the incident in to Chester County. The Modena Fire Company was alerted along with Westwood, Coatesville's Ladder, and West Bradford's Tanker to 11 Union Street in the Borough of Modena for the Apartment Fire.

Ambulance 37-2 quickly went on scene reporting nothing showing side's A,B,D . Chief 37 arrived on scene and established Union Street Command. EMS reported to the chief that they had a space heater that was throwing out sparks with a light smoke condition and that they killed the power to the apartment.

Engine 37-2 with a crew of 6 arrived and took tools, water can, and thermal imaging camera to the apartment. The Captain advised they were opening the wall as the camera was showing heat evident. After make a small hole in the wall it was found that the heater and a small section of wiring was all that was burnt. Command held the assignment to Modena units and placed the situation under control.

After removing the heater and isolating the wiring, power was restored to the apartment and Modena units cleared the scene.
