Out Building / Woods Fire on Modena Road in South Coatesville Borough

On Saturday April 12, 2014 the Modena Fire Company along with Westwood, Coatesville (Ladder), Keystone Valley (Tanker), and Engine 76 were dispatched at 1504 to a reported out building fire at 142 Modena Road in South Coatesville Borough.

Chief 37 responded and was notified by county that they believed it to be working, Chief 37 arrived on scene at 1509 reporting a shed well off along with a 1/4 acre of woods establishing Modena Road Command.

Engine 76 took the drive and deployed several hand lines Engine 37-2 dropped a line at the end of the drive and laid into Engine 76, Engine 44-5 picked up the line at the end of the drive after hitting the hydrant at Modena and Cambria Ave.

With the fire rapidly spreading up the hill addition brush units were alerted to report to the drive at 36 Overhill Road to access the fire from the right flank, Engine 37-3 reported to the top side on South Hill Drive to cut off the fire from reaching the houses, addition engines and tanker 8 assisted on the top side.

The fire was contained at 1555 with all units working. The fire had consumed 3 1/2 to 4 acre's before being contained.

All units cleared the scene at 1715 and returned to station for additional clean up, special thanks to West Whiteland Engine 6-2 crew for their assistants helping us get back in service.
