Company Takes Night Off to Enjoy Annual Awards Banquet

On Saturday June 7 2014 the members, distinguished guest, family, and friends of the Modena Fire Company gathered at Volunteers Hall in Wagontown for the 2013 awards banquet.

The evening started out with a social hour before enjoying a fine dinner provided by ESP Catering . Following dinner it was time for members to be recognized for their hard work in 2013. First up was President Todd Bryant and Chief Dowlin who handed all members a service pin for there years of service in five year intervals, next was Fire Police Lt Tom Brown who presented his awards to his guys, . Next up was EMS Chief James Plank who presented the 100 club members on the EMS side and EMS person of the year, this year recipient was John Lavender, Chief Dowlin was next up presenting the 100 club on the fire side and Firefighter of the year, this year's recipient was David Wallace.

President Todd Bryant talked about losing a leader of the company last December, Leon Pluck he talked about how Leon was the face of the company and his dedication was like no other, The officers decided to start a annual award in Leon's memory this award will be known as the Leon Pluck Memorial, President Award and will be chosen by the president every year, given to a member that has shown life time honor, dedication and leadership. President Bryant choose for the first annual award was Douglas Dowlin past Chief, EMS Chief Doug has been a dedicated member since 1978 and continues to serve the company doing EMS billing and as Battalion Chief, Doug received a plaque and has name was added to a perpetual plaque that will hang in the meeting room.

Last up was Deputy Chief Perine who handed out some gage gifts to some members.

Following the awards it was time to let loose and enjoy the evening with fellowship and dancing. The company remained out of service until midnight allowing our members to enjoy their time off.
