Early Morning 4th of July Accident

Early Friday morning July 4th 2014 the Modena Fire Company was dispatched around 0530 to the 500 block of South First Avenue in South Coatesville for a reported accident.

Prior to Modena being dispatched the City and Westwood were dispatched to an accident on the 500 block of North First Avenue in Coatesville City. Dispatchers quickly realized this was one in the same and redirected everyone to South First Ave in South Coatesville. Rescue 41 and Battalion Chief Patton arrived and reported a one vehicle accident with the operator in police custody.

Chief 37 arrived and took report from city Battalion Chief, city units then cleared the scene and Chief 37 held the assignment to Modena units. Engine 37-3 crew controlled fluids on road and sweep up debris, Traffic 37 and fire police closed the road for a short time during police investigation and vehicle removal.

The operator of this vehicle had lost control and struck two telephone poles heading south bound on first avenue before going across the road and hitting a rock wall head one.

All units cleared the scene at 0630.
