Engine Runs House Explosion in Coatesville

On Thursday July 17 2014 around 1130 hours the Modena Fire Company was dispatched to assist the City of Coatesville on a possible dwelling fire on Walnut Street and Penrose Ave.

Ladder 41 arrived on scene reporting a house that exploded and a full structural collapse of the structure with a small fire in the basement. City crews quickly extinguished the fire; Engine 37-2 arrived and assisted city crews on crowd control and taping off the area.

The residents who were not believed to be home at the time where finally located and accounted for about 30 minutes into the call.

Crews stood by while Peco electric and gas secured the area.

Modena was later released but city crews remained on scene for several more hours during the investigation of the cause.

During the incident the company was hit for a second call to assist the ambulance on a cardiac arrest in South Coatesville which Squad 37 and additional 44 units handled.
