Dwelling Fire on Lafayette Ave in South Coatesville Borough

On Sunday evening August 3 2014, the Modena Fire Company was dispatched at 2008 hours to a reported dwelling at 17 Lafayette Ave in South Coatesville Borough. Also dispatched on the call was Westwood Fire Company, ladder from Coatesville, one engine from Sadsburyville, and a tanker from West Bradford.

Chief and Ambulance 37-1 made the response and was advised by county radio that the structure was reported to be a group home, one subject was reported still inside, and smoke alarms going on in back ground of caller.

Ambulance 37-1 arrived at 2013 reporting nothing showing, Chief 37 arrived and EMS gave him a report from their walk around reporting smoke condition inside, staff members from the home said one was still inside. The chief and ems crew entered the structure to remove subject while inside made quick assessment of fire which was only a small area of floor burning in kitchen area.

Back outside the chief reported small kitchen fire and told incoming units to lead off with water can, chief established Lafayette Command.

Engine 37-2 and ladder 41 arrived at 2016 crew used water can to extinguish the fire and went in service ventilating the structure. The command held the assignment to 37 and Ladder 41.

County Fire Marshals were on scene and continue to investigate the incident.

All units cleared the scene at 2125 hours
