Large Trash Fire at Coatesville Scrap Iron Company in South Coatesville

On September 12th 2014, At 2230 hours the Modena Fire Company along with Arcelor Mittal Fire Companies were dispatched to the Coatesville Scrap Iron Company on South First Ave in South Coatesville Borough for a trash fire.

Deputy 37 Perine was on the scene with a very large Fluff pile on fire. Deputy 37 Requested Westwood and Wagontown full company's and Coatesville's Ladder to assist.

Engine 37-2, Engine 37-3, and Ambulance 37-1 all made the response, on scene Engine 37-2 took the right side of the pile and Engine 37-3 took the front. Engine 75 and 35 took the rear sector, Ladder 43 set up on the right side for master stream operations.

Chief 37 arrived on Engine 37-3 and took Coatesville Scrap Command, requested 3 additional tankers to supply the ladder operations. Tanker 39, 8 and Engine 49-5 were added to the incident.

Multiple hand lines, blitz fires, and the ladder pipe flowed water for the next 2 hours. The fire was placed under control around 1130 with all hands working.

Modena units finally cleared the scene at 0058 however held the standby as both engine were striped, units were not placed back in service till 0215.
