Chester County Fall Fire 1 Graduation

On Thursday evening November 20, 2014 Fire Fighter Justin Carro of the Modena Fire Company graduated from the Firefighter 1 class and the ceremonies were held by Chester County Department of Emergency Services at the Wagontown Fire Company.

The evening started with the parade of cadets followed by the First West Chester Fire Company honor guard as well as the Chester County pipe and drum band. The program began with a salute to the flag and the playing of amazing grace.

Coordinator Groves delivered a welcoming address before introducing the Acting Director of Emergency Services John Haynes who gave opening remarks and thanked the cadets and there family's for dedicating there time to this class.

Following Director Haynes was the presentations of certificates, Firefighters Justin Carro graduated from the Essentials of Firefighting Program, which is an intensive 160 hour course. This course provides cadets with little or no fire service experience the knowledge and skills needed to serve as a member of a fire suppression team. After the class cadets can challenge the written and practical exam to become a Nationally Certified Firefighter 1.

All the cadets were called to the front and presented the certificates. Chief Dowlin presented Firefighters Carro with his certificates, joined by Lead Instructor John DeMarco, Coordinator Groves, Acting Director Haynes, and instructors of the class. After the presentation of certificates, cadets where asked to raise their right hand and administer the firefighters oath.
