On Wednesday Evening December 3, 2014 the Modena Fire Company was dispatched at 2124hrs to the 1300 block of West Chester Road in East Fallowfield Township for a reported auto accident involving fire.

Chief 37 responded and was one scene quickly reporting one car into a tree with the engine compartment well involved with operator out and down in the yard.

Engine 37-2 arrived on scene stretched a hand line and began to extinguish the fire. Ambulance 37-2 and Medic 93 arrived and began patient care on the operator of the vehicle. Rescue 38 arrived and its crew split up half assisting on fire suppression and half with patient care.

The fire was placed under control a short time later and the operator was transported to local trauma center.

Luckily for the operator of this vehicle a local care taker of a nearby group home heard the accident and ran over to the scene and drug the patient out of the car and to safety, possibly saving them from receiving serious burns on top of their other injuries.

In a time where the world seems to be protesting and fighting the actions of this care taker reminds us of the true meaning of heroism, placing himself in harm's way without due regard for his own safety.

Modena units cleared the scene at 2245
