Members Take Night Off For Annual Banquet

On Saturday May 2 2015 the members, distinguished guest, family, and friends of the Modena Fire Company gathered at Volunteers Hall in Wagontown for the 2014 awards banquet.

The evening started out with a social hour before enjoying a fine dinner provided by ESP Catering . Following dinner it was time for members to be recognized for their hard work in 2014. First up was Fire Police Lt Tom Brown who presented his awards to his guys, . Next up was EMS awards presented by Chief Dowlin and EMS Deputy Chief Liz Corle the top five responders were given an award and EMS person of the year, this year recipient was Michelle Martin, Chief Dowlin was next up presenting the 100 club on the fire side, this year nine members received that award and Firefighter of the year, this year's recipient was Andrae Reason.

President Todd Bryant talked about losing Leon Pluck he talked about how Leon was the face of the company and his dedication was like no other, This was the second year for the Leon Pluck Memorial President Award and will be chosen by the president every year, given to a member that has shown life time honor, dedication and leadership. President Bryant choose for the second annual award was Fire Chief Frank Dowlin, Chief Dowlin has been a dedicated member since 1990 and continues to serve the company as fire chief a position he has held for 12 yrs now, Frank received a plaque and has name was added to a perpetual plaque that hangs in the meeting room. Following the president's award, President Bryant asked the entire active crew to come to the stage, President Bryant switched hats and as Assistant Chief again talked about Chief Dowlin's Leadership, the lower line officers presented the chief with a new shield for his helmet with the new company logo on it, the active crew then lined up and filed pass the chief giving him handshakes and hugs, he was very overwhelmed.

Last up was Chipper Patton and Joe Killen who handed out some gage gifts to Deputy Chief Perine.

Following the awards it was time to let loose and enjoy the evening with fellowship and dancing. The fire division of the company remained out of service until midnight and the EMS division till 6am the next morning allowing our members and staff to enjoy their time off.

The officers and members of the company would like to thank the East Brandywine Fire Company for covering the fire division and the Rocky Run Fire Department for covering the EMS division throughout the night.
