Engine 37-1 Dedicated to Mike Townsley Jr, and Douglas Dowlin

By Fire Chief Frank Dowlin
December 22, 2015

On Monday night December 21st, 2015 at the active crew dinner Chief Dowlin spoke of the purchase of Engine 37-1. He thanked everyone for doing their part in getting the truck in service.

In thanking them he reminded everyone of all the behind the scene things that took place to make this purchase a success, things like securing loans, and moving money around, the ton of e-mails back and forth and contracts back and forth, these type things that most of the active members don't see.

When the Chief's sat down and discussed this dedication two members keep coming up not only for everything they have done to make this truck happen but also the things they have been doing both individually and together for the past 20 plus years.

Mike Townsley Jr. started the company in the 80"s and held fire officer positions for years before taking over as Treasurer of the company 20 years ago. When taking over the position he had quiet the task to bring the treasurer up to the times with computers and on-line banking, individually he did this and continues in this position today.

Douglas Dowlin started the company in the late 70's and has held almost every line officer position including Fire Chief for 8 years and EMS Chief for 10 plus years, since the late 80"s he has handled the companies EMS billing and EMS and fire fund drivers.

Together these two individuals have raised the money, managed it and moved this company into the 20th century and set us up for the future as we rapidly approach our 100 year anniversary.

Chief Dowlin presented a plaque to Douglas Dowlin at the active crew dinner and had him uncover one of the dedication plaques on the side of the engine, afterwards took photo's with his family.

Mike Townsley was unable to make the dinner on Monday so some of the board members took the truck to his house Tuesday night and surprised him with a visit, unbeknownst to Mike the whole family was in on it and the night was chosen because they would all be there for their family Christmas Dinner.

Chief Dowlin again presented a plaque to Mike Thanking him for his years of service and had him uncover the second dedication plaque on the engine. Afterwards the family took some photo's and got a chance to look at the truck and even play with the air horns.

One last photo was taken of both Mike and Doug in front of the dedication plaque on the truck.

Once again Congratulations to these two members, a well deserve tribute for all their hard work.
