Accident with Entrapment on West Chester Road

On Wednesday June 8th just after 10am Station 37 (Modena) was dispatched to the 1300blk of West Chester Rd in South Coatesville for the vehicle accident with unk injuries. Battalion 37 (Corle) and Assistant 37 (Bryant) arrived 1st and reported 1 vehicle into a telephone pole. After they checked the vehicle it was determined that the passenger side doors would need to be removed to gain access to the patient. At that time Assistant 37 requested Rescue 38 be dispatched to the scene to assist.

Engine 37-1 arrived on scene crews stabilized the car and pulled a hand line for precaution then they went to work starting to pop the doors, Rescue 38 arrived and their crew jump in and assisted on finishing the extrication. After approx. 10 minutes both doors were removed from the vehicle and EMS was able to remove the victim from the vehicle.
Due to the telephone pole being struck PECO was notified to respond due to a reported power outage in caused by the accident. Fire Police from 37 and 38 were on scene and had the roadway shut down so that crews could work safely and so that PECO had a safe area to work when they arrived as well. The water company was notified by 37 Command also due to a fire hydrant being damaged in the accident.

All units cleared the scene shortly after 11 am
