Engine 37-1 Travels to Townsend Delaware for Stand-by During Funeral

Today June 18, 2016 the Modena Fire Company provided an Engine with a crew of 6 to stand-by at Townsend Fire Company in New Castle County Delaware.

Townsend had an unfortunate lose of a long time member and Past Chief Clarence A. Schwatka Jr., Chief Schwatka served in many different rolls in the company over is 80 year tender.

Services for Chief Schwatka were held in the hall of the station, following the services the Chief was loaded onto the company antique and given one last ride to his final rest place under the sound of the house siren and pager activation announcing his last call.

Modena was joined by Delco Rescue 15, crews spent the day socializing and enjoying each other company, crews also assisted with switching the hall over from service mode to reception mode.
During the 8 hours crews did not turn a wheel, but the hospitality of the Townsend Fire Company was first class making us fell right at home.

The officers and members of the Modena Fire Company would again like to express our censer condolences to the Townsend Fire Company on the loss of Chief Schwatka., and Thank You for your hospitality throughout the day.
