The Modena Fire Company received some good news on a grant that was applied for through the DCNR Fire Assistance Grant through the Borough of Forestry.

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) is authorized to provide financial, technical and other assistance to state officials in cooperative efforts to organize, train and equip local forces in rural areas or communities under 10,000 population to prevent, control and suppress fires which threaten human life, livestock, wildlife, crops, pastures, orchards, woodlands, farmsteads, or other improvements in rural areas. The key objectives of this program are to save lives and protect property in unprotected or inadequately protected rural areas. Therefore, the selection of the participating agencies must be based on vulnerability and the adequacy of existing fire protection.
The maximum grant we will consider for the 2016 program is $7,500 ($15,000 total project) per fire company.
This grant is a 50/50 grant, Modena application was for a total of $13,700 toward the replacement of the 30 year old skid unit in Brush 37.
Modena was awarded $6,850 toward the replacement of the 30 year old skid unit in Brush 37.

Brush 37 will go OOS toward the end of Fall to receive this new unit.

We like to thanks the DCNR Fire Assistance Grant for the award, Also a big Thanks to our grant writer John Sly for their assistance with this grant.
