RIT Assignment on Working Fire in Sadsbury Township

On Memorial Day Monday May 29, 2017 at 2:36 PM, The Modena Fire Company was dispatched as RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) to assist Keystone Valley Fire Department at the first block of Newport Avenue in Pomeroy Village for a House fire.

Engine 37-2 made the immediate response with a crew of five. Engine 37-1 followed a few minute later with a crew of five as well, Ambulance 37-1 was added to the assignment to assume rehab.

The initial caller reported that they were seeing sparks coming from an outlet with smoke showing in a bedroom.
Upon arrival of Ladder 8, crews reported smoke coming from the roof and an active bedroom fire inside.

Lieutenant 8 (Tribbett) on Engine 8-1 established "Newport Command", Assistant 37 (Bryant) took operations. Crews inside reported an active bedroom fire and crews were in-service.

Ladder 8's crew performed the search as Engine 31-1's crew stretched a 1 3/4 line to the front door and assumed first in Engine Company responsibilities.

Chief 8 (Cazillo) arrived on-scene and took the "Newport Command" with all crews working.

PECO was notified to respond. Chief Cazillo reported that the fire was under control at 3:02 PM.

Belfor was requested for the board up.
