Engine & Ambulance goes to West Chester on Multi-Alarm Fire

On Thursday night November 16, 2017 the Modena Ambulance was dispatched at 2300 to assist the West Chester Fire Department on a multi-alarm fire at Barclay Friend Nursing Home in West Chester Borough, Ambulance 37-1 made the immediate response.

West Chester Fire Department was dispatched around 2246 the reported smoke in building, units arrived on scene and were met with heavy fire condition, and the task of evacuating the facility.

Additional alarms were stuck for both fire and EMS bringing Fire Company’s and Ambulances from Chester, Delaware, and even Lancaster Counties.

Engine 37-2 also was added to the assignment and arrived and took position at a hydrant providing water supply to the scene, it’s crew of 6 assisted where needed elsewhere on the fire ground.

All said and done the fire struck 5 fire box alarms and 4 EMS box alarms.

Modena units remained on scene into the early morning hours.

On Saturday November 18 Engine 37-2 with a crew of 5 went back to the scene to assist with extinguishing hot spots.
