Medical Call Turns Into Close Call For Responders

On August 11th, 2018 At 16:45 the Modena Fire Company ambulance was dispatched to the 1300 block of Doe Run Road in West Marlborough Township for a medical emergency.

Ambulance 37-2 responded and was advised by the Chester County 911 center to stage out of the area until the police arrive to clear the scene for responders. Utility 36 marked up with a crew of 3 to assist the ambulance. The Pennsylvania State Police arrived and cleared the scene for responders all units arrived at 16:55 and made contact with the subject. As the responders were speaking with the subject. The Pennsylvania State Police had discovered that the vehicle the subject was driving was involved in apparent accident and was sitting on top of an underground propane tank. Personnel from Utility 36 requested an engine from their station be dispatched to assist at the scene.

Ambulance 37-2 transported the subject to an area hospital for further evaluation while Utility 36 remained on the scene.
