Passing Of Mona Blacklock (Groce/Pluck) UPDATED with service info

It's with great sadness the Modena Fire Company announces the passing of Mona Blacklock on Tuesday September 27th 2022.

Most remember her as Mona Groce or Pluck while she was active with the company. A Life member since the the 80's Mona was very active on the Ambulance and held multiple EMS officer position over the years, in addition Mona also held executive board positions as well.

In the retirement years as she called it Mona remainder a vital part of the company and continued to assist with fundraising and overall support of the young generation and in fact was like a second mom to some of us.

Mona was also very active within the Borough of Modena although not always a resident favorite, she made great strides to cleaning up the image of the borough.

We were blessed to see Mona just this past month at the 100th Anniversary and are so thankful she was able to come and enjoy that day and catch up with members. I'm Sure the first thing she did when she go to heaven was give Leon and the rest of the crew a report on it.

The Officers and members of the company would like to extend our sincere condolences to Christine, Ed and the rest of the family, your mother will be dearly missed.

Wilde Funeral Home Obituary is as follows:

Ramona "Mona" Blacklock, 81, of East Fallowfield, PA, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, in Bryn Mawr, PA. She was the wife of Robert Blacklock. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Alice Book Hendricks.

Mona was a 1959 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville and had worked as an accounting technician for the Coatesville Veterans Administration. She served as a council member for the Borough of Modena.

She was a member of the Parkesburg United Methodist Church, the Parkesburg VFW, the Modena and Washington Fire Companies and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #249 and Jaycettes, where she served as secretary.

Mona was predeceased by her three brothers: Robert, Charles, and Theodore Hendricks, and two sisters: Rose Wilson and Pearl Hall.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Ashley Jr.) Morgan of Coatesville, son Edwin (Monica) Groce Jr. of West Brandywine, and four grandchildren, Brandon Groce of West Brandywine, Dylan Morgan of Chicago, Kyle Groce of West Brandywine, Darby Morgan of Coatesville.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022, from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main Street Parkesburg, Pa 19365, at 2:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation period taking place from 1:00 pm until the start of the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
