By Modena Fire Company
December 8, 2022

At 9:57am this morning 12/8/2022 the Modena Fire Company along with Rescue 75 from the Steel Mill were dispatched to S First Ave in the area of the railroad tracks for a vehicle vs a train.

Rescue 75 arrived and confirmed a pick up truck had struck the side of a rail car that was crossing at the intersection and that they were blocking the roadway. Engine 37-1, Chief 37, Ambulance 37-2 and Fire Police all made the response. Luckily no one was injured in the accident.

Crews placed oil dry on fluids that were leaking from the vehicle and stood by on scene until Flings arrived and removed the pick up truck. At that point the train was able to also move. Crews from the Mill arrived with a large machine to clean up the debris in the roadway and the roadway was reopened a short time later.
