On the evening of Wednesday, November 29th, a three-member crew from the Squad visited the Allen Myers Asphalt Plant in East Fallowfield Township for a guided tour.
The crew met with the regional safety director, plant managers, and several plant workers. During the tour, the plant staff highlighted various aspects of the facility, including safety concerns, electrical shutdown procedures, confined spaces, and hazardous materials present throughout the plant.
The interaction between the plant staff and our first responders was highly productive. This visit was particularly significant as it followed an incident that occurred approximately two years ago – a fire at the plant during daytime operations. This event underscored the importance of such visits, and there is now a hope to make these tours an annual event to stay updated on plant operations.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Westwood for allowing us to participate in this tour. Our thanks also go to Allen Myers for organizing this insightful tour. We commend their initiative in opening this line of communication, which is invaluable in enhancing emergency response and safety for everyone involved. |
