September 13, 2008

On Saturday September 13th at 11 am, Ambulance 37-1 and Engine 37-1 made the short trip up to South Coatesville Park grounds located next to Citadel Bank to attend S. Coatesville's Community Day.

Once on location the apparatus compartments were opened up, and equipment was placed on display for the community to see. Shortly after that Sky Care Helicopter based out of Brandywine Hospital made an appearance, however the flight crew was dispatched to stand by for Lancaster but arrived back shortly later for an extended stay.

Many local residents attended and were greeted with multiple informational stands including the Chester County Sheriff Office, Representatives from Brandywine Hospital, Chester County Emergency Services Communications,YMCA ACTIVAN, Voters Registration, and many other numerous local businesses and organization.

The was plenty of food vendors and music to enjoy. Around 1 pm the Chester County Sheriffs Dept. k-9 unit put on a show of how the Deputy K-9s help assist the officers to detect and apprehend criminals and illegal substances.

The rest of the day was social gathering and networking. During this time Fire and EMS crews spoke and toured local residents on their first due emergency services and equipment.

Fire and EMS crews stayed until 4pm when the event was over. During this time both ambulance and engine remained available for all calls, but fortunately no services were needed during that time.

Thank you to the residents of South Coatesville Borough for a nice day, and for the continual support of your local volunteer fire company.
