| On Monday, March 30th the Modena Fire Company held their weekly training. On this night crews were to brush up on their search and rescue skills. More importantly, they were to strengthen their communication skills. While members inside ran saws, crew members crawled through obstacles, communicated despite their environment conditions and learned air management as they made their way through the smoke.
Once all crews were able to smoothly complete each evolution, search and rescue techniques were then used. While crews were going through the building they faced trying to rescue lost/down victims and fellow firefighters.
Crews ended the night by one last evolution. Crews were taken in to the smokey room to find pieces of their air packs and to put them together and breathe air while in complete darkness. Crews searched the room for an air cylinder, harness, and air mask. Once they found their own, they helped their fellow firefighters to complete the evolution.
While crews were cleaning up, Ambulance 37-1 responded to two calls and the Taffic responded to one. |
